Tragic Crash in Central Wisconsin Leaves Nine Dead and One Injured
Dewhurst Township, WI - A devastating crash involving a semi-trailer truck and a van at a highway intersection in central Wisconsin has claimed the lives of nine people and left one individual injured, according to authorities. The incident occurred on Friday morning in Dewhurst Township at the intersection of Highway 95 and County Road J.

Preliminary reports from the Clark County Sheriff's Office indicate that the tractor-trailer was heading eastbound on Highway 95 while the van was traveling northbound on County Road J. Tragically, the van was struck by the semi as it entered the intersection, resulting in extensive damage to both vehicles.

At the scene, eight occupants of the van, including the driver, as well as the semi-truck driver, were pronounced dead by authorities. Their identities are being withheld pending notification of their families. The lone survivor, a passenger in the van, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The condition of the survivor has not been disclosed at this time.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers expressed his condolences, saying, "Kathy and I are saddened today by the fatal crash that occurred in Clark County, tragically taking nine lives. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of all those involved, as well as the first responders who worked quickly to provide support at the scene."

Aerial footage captured by ABC Twin Cities affiliate KTSP revealed the wreckage left by the collision, showing the semi-truck in a nearby ditch and the van on its side. However, the scene has now been cleared.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing, with the Clark County Sheriff's Office receiving assistance from the Wisconsin State Patrol. Authorities are now working diligently to piece together the sequence of events that led to this tragic incident.
