Three University of Wyoming students tragically lost their lives in a single-vehicle crash near the Wyoming-Colorado border on February 22. The students were identified as 19-year-old Charlie Clark from Las Vegas, 18-year-old Carson Muir from Birmingham, Alabama, and 21-year-old Luke Slabber from Cape Town, South Africa. All three students were members of the university's Swim & Dive team.

Clark, a sophomore studying psychology, was described as a talented swimmer who started his journey in the sport at a young age in Las Vegas. The crash, which occurred on U.S. 287, involved a Toyota RAV4 and led to the vehicle rolling multiple times before coming to a stop. Two other members of the university's swim team sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the accident and have since been released from the hospital.

The Colorado State Patrol's Public Affairs Office confirmed that the driver of the vehicle was one of the survivors. Authorities are still investigating the crash, considering factors such as speed, impairment, and distractions. The University of Wyoming, located in Laramie, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of the students, emphasizing the impact on the university community and the families and friends of the victims.

In addition to this heartbreaking incident, the university recently mourned the loss of an Army ROTC student whose body was found in the Vedauwoo Recreational area in Buford, Wyoming on February 14. Counseling services have been made available to support student-athletes, coaches, and others affected by these tragedies.
