Tragic Accident in California as 2-Year-Old Fatally Struck by Truck Driven by 3-Year-Old

In a devastating incident, a 2-year-old child lost their life in Woodland, California, after being hit by a truck that had a 3-year-old behind the wheel. The fatal accident occurred on Saturday afternoon outside of Sacramento, at a gas station where the vehicle had been left running while parked.
According to the Woodland Police Department, the owner of the truck had entered the store while the 3-year-old, who was in the backseat of the vehicle, managed to unfasten themselves from their car seat and climb into the driver's seat. As a result, the truck began to move forward and tragically collided with a 2-year-old child who was near a taco stand at the periphery of the gas station.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered that the 2-year-old had been struck and immediately rushed to the hospital by family members. Tragically, the child succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical attention.
Woodland Police Department officials have confirmed that all parties involved in the incident are cooperating with the investigation. However, no arrests have been made at this time. The department is committed to conducting a thorough investigation, which includes gathering statements, reviewing video surveillance footage, analyzing evidence, and creating scene diagrams.
The victim has been identified as Ailahni, who was just a few weeks away from turning 3 at the end of April, according to FOX40. Ailahni's father, Sandro Sanchez, recounted the harrowing moment, stating that he heard screams and rushed to the scene. He had to enter the truck and apply the brakes to halt it. Sanchez described his daughter as a always happy child and mentioned that she was enjoying tacos served by her godmother when the accident occurred. He called for charges to be filed against the owner of the truck, expressing frustration that they were allowed to leave the scene.
Diana Sanchez, the victim's aunt, also expressed her grief, emphasizing the devastating loss suffered by the family. They are mourning their loved one while the owner of the truck goes free.
