First responders in Middleborough, Massachusetts, are mourning the loss of a 66-year-old town resident who tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle crash. The incident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. on a Sunday, as the man's vehicle crashed into a tree off Thompson Street, part of Route 105, just south of the Plain Street intersection.

Police Chief Joseph Perkins and Fire Chief Owen Thompson confirmed that the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Following the fatal crash, a section of Route 105 between Plain and Precinct streets has been temporarily closed, with authorities advising drivers to seek alternate routes.

The investigation into the crash is currently underway, led by Middleborough police in collaboration with members of the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Prevention and Control Unit. This heartbreaking incident comes just a day after the community faced another tragedy, with the loss of an 11-year-old girl who perished in a fire on Pearl Street.

The town of Middleborough is reeling from these recent devastating events, and our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those affected by these heartbreaking losses.
