In a horrifying incident at the DoubleTree by Hilton Houston Brookhollow hotel, an 8-year-old girl named Aliyah Jaico tragically lost her life while swimming with her family. According to a lawsuit filed by her family, Aliyah was forcefully sucked into a hole in the pool's flow system, ultimately leading to her death.

The incident occurred on Saturday when Aliyah and her family were enjoying a day of swimming at the hotel's lazy river style pool. Aliyah was reported missing around 5:45 p.m. that evening, prompting a massive search effort. Sadly, her lifeless body was discovered hours later inside a large pipe in the pool area.

Richard Nava, the family's lawyer, described the incident as "horrific," stating that Aliyah's body was contorted when she was forcefully pulled into the 20-foot pipe. Nava also highlighted that it took the fire department a grueling 13 hours to retrieve her body from the pipe.

In response to the tragedy, Aliyah's family filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against the hotel, its parent company Hilton Worldwide Holdings, and the local operator of the hotel, Unique Crowne Hospitality. They have accused the hotel and its operators of "gross negligence" for failing to secure the pool area, allowing such a tragedy to occur.

Aliyah's loved ones are devastated by her untimely death and are seeking justice through the lawsuit. The family is seeking at least $1 million in damages, with their legal representatives planning to file a restraining order to ensure the preservation of the pool area as evidence.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences has ruled Aliyah's death as accidental, attributing it to drowning and mechanical asphyxia. A recent inspection report by the Houston Health Department revealed several violations at the pool, including a missing drain cover documentation. As a result, the pool has been closed until further notice, requiring re-inspection and correction of the violations before it can reopen.

Both Hilton and Unique Crowne Hospitality expressed their deep condolences to Aliyah's family and vowed to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation. Hilton emphasized that it does not oversee the day-to-day operations of the hotel, which is independently owned and operated by a third party.

The tragic incident has raised questions about safety protocols and measures at the hotel. Aliyah's family wants to investigate the due diligence conducted by the Hilton brand in its franchise agreements to ensure accountability.

Aliyah Jaico was a vibrant young girl who loved swimming and playing Roblox. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, as her family and community commemorate the loss of a beloved soul.

This devastating incident serves as a reminder of the importance of constant vigilance and adherence to safety guidelines when it comes to activities involving water, especially in public pool facilities.
