A series of severe weather events hit the Buffalo area, leaving a path of destruction in their wake. Two tornadoes were reported, with one touching down in the town of Eden in Erie County, and another in the hamlet of Forestville in the town of Hanover in Chautauqua County. Additionally, a brief touchdown of a third tornado occurred in Darien, Genesee County.

The EF-1 tornado in Forestville unleashed powerful winds that tore the roof off a home in Arkwright, causing significant damage. Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. In the Rochester area, heavy rain resulted in slow traffic and dark storm clouds, as observed by 13WHAM's Van Bortel Subaru Mobile Weather Tracker.

Moving further east, Ontario County took proactive measures to assist residents who were affected by flash flooding exactly one year ago this week. Leaders distributed sandbags to those in need, aiming to mitigate potential damage and protect vulnerable areas. The distribution was undertaken to prevent a repeat of the devastating flooding that occurred in the region previously.

While severe weather events took place across the region, reports indicate that incidents were relatively few and minor. Ontario County Sheriff David Cirencione stated that a residence in Farmington was struck by lightning but no injuries were reported. In addition, a few trees were downed near the Canandaigua area, but there were no reports of injuries. The highway departments in the affected areas are actively working to address and clear any obstacles caused by the severe weather.

In Waterloo, a fortunate turn of events occurred as a tree fell on a house but missed causing any harm to the residents. The tree pierced the roof and landed inside the living room, yet luckily, no injuries were reported in this incident.

As the communities affected by these severe weather events continue to assess and repair the damages caused, the focus remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of residents. Authorities and local organizations are working diligently to provide support and assistance to those in affected areas.

While the cleanup and recovery efforts are underway, it serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness and the resilience of the communities in the face of adverse weather conditions.
