MINNEAPOLIS - In a devastating turn of events, two police officers and a paramedic lost their lives on Sunday morning while responding to a domestic call at the 12000 block of 33rd Avenue in Burnsville. The tragic incident prompted an outpouring of support from various entities.
Hennepin Healthcare in downtown Minneapolis, known for being a level one trauma center, became a gathering place for police and first responders from multiple cities to show their solidarity. The Burnsville Police Department received condolences and prayers from various officials and law enforcement agencies. Former Rep. Jim Nash and Secretary of State Steve Simon expressed their sorrow on social media, emphasizing the heavy toll such incidents take on communities and the nation as a whole.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara, Olmstead County Sheriff's Office, Maple Grove Police Department, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Plymouth Police Department, and several representatives joined in offering their condolences to the families and colleagues of the fallen officers and paramedic. The St. Paul's division of ATF confirmed that ATF agents were responding to the scene in Burnsville where the tragic incident occurred.
Gov. Tim Walz emphasized the bravery and sacrifices made by first responders every day, expressing his condolences and support for the grieving families.
