**UFC Fight Night 244 Weigh-In Drama: Three Fighters Miss Weight**
LAS VEGAS - The official weigh-ins for UFC Fight Night 244 have wrapped up in "Sin City," but not without some hiccups. Three fighters failed to make their weight class limits on their initial attempts, creating a stir just ahead of the event.
Jared Gooden, who is set to clash with Chidi Njokuani, tipped the scales at 172.5 pounds, exceeding the welterweight limit. Gooden has been granted an additional hour to cut the extra weight. Josh Fremd, however, missed by a larger margin. Fremd weighed in at 189 pounds, three pounds over the middleweight limit, leading to a likely fine and possible cancellation of his bout with Abdul Razak Alhassan, contingent on the commission's decision and Alhassan's agreement.
Similarly, Dan Argueta faced issues at the scale ahead of his bantamweight preliminary fight against Cody Haddon. Argueta's weight miss means he will face a fine, amounting to 20 percent of his fight purse.
Despite the weigh-in troubles, the main event remains intact. Former flyweight title challenger Brandon Royval and the undefeated Tatsuro Taira both clocked in at 125.5 pounds, ensuring their headline fight will proceed as scheduled.
In the co-main event, JunYong Park and Brad Tavares both made weight without incident, with Park at 185.5 pounds and Tavares slightly lighter at 185 pounds.
The final UFC Fight Night 244 weigh-in results are as follows:
- Abdul Razak Alhassan (186) vs. Josh Fremd (189)—Fremd missed weight and their fight has been canceled by the commission.
- Jared Gooden (172.5)—Granted one hour to cut weight.
- Dan Argueta (missed weight)—Will be fined 20 percent of his purse.
