In a significant development, a third man has been charged with murder in the deadly shooting that occurred at last month's Kansas City Chiefs parade. The Jackson County prosecutor's office announced on Thursday that Terry Young, 20, has been charged with murder in the second degree, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action.

The shooting took place at the end of the Chiefs' Super Bowl victory parade, resulting in the tragic death of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a 43-year-old mother of two and a local radio DJ. Over two dozen others were wounded in the incident.

Earlier, two individuals, whose names have not been disclosed, had been charged with murder in the second degree. Prosecutors confirmed that Lopez-Galvan was killed by a gun belonging to one of these two men.

Additionally, authorities revealed that a third juvenile, a 15-year-old boy, was charged separately in family court on Wednesday with two felonies: unlawful use of a weapon for allegedly shooting at a person and armed criminal action. A hearing will be scheduled to determine whether he should be tried as an adult.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and prosecutors anticipate filing additional charges. The incident reportedly began with an argument during the celebration outside Union Station on February 14th. According to prosecutors, Terry Young and two others approached another group of people, leading to a confrontation. It escalated when one member of the other group brandished a firearm, prompting Young to do the same. Surveillance footage captured Young allegedly firing multiple shots in response.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker emphasized that everyone involved in discharging a firearm during the altercation has been apprehended. Authorities are committed to holding those responsible accountable for their actions.

As the case continues to unfold, the city mourns the loss of Lisa Lopez-Galvan and stands in solidarity with the victims recovering from their injuries.
