The news comes approximately nine months after the couple began dating and just two months following speculation by fans that several songs on Taylor Swift's "The Tortured Poets Department" were about Healy.

According to reports, Healy attended a concert by British singer Charli XCX in Brooklyn on Tuesday night, accompanied by Bechtel. He took to his Instagram story hours later to share the joyful news with his followers. In the post, Healy re-shared a picture of Bechtel's engagement ring, captioning it with a witty reference to Charli XCX's latest album, "Brat."

Confirmation of the engagement came from Healy's mother, Welch, during her appearance on the talk show "Loose Women" on Wednesday morning. Welch revealed that she had known about the engagement for several weeks and expressed her excitement over Bechtel, describing her as "absolutely gorgeous" and "everything I would want in a daughter-in-law."

Bechtel, who began her career as a dancer in music videos for English singer Blood Orange, has also made a name for herself as a successful model, working with brands such as Skims, Marc Jacobs, and Diesel. Additionally, she is a talented singer and was scouted by Charli XCX to join the punk girl group Nasty Cherry, a process documented in the Netflix reality series "I'm with the Band: Nasty Cherry."

Matty Healy, who has been leading The 1975 for more than two decades, gained significant attention last summer when rumors of his relationship with Taylor Swift circulated. The two had previously been linked romantically in 2014, but Healy denied the rumors at the time. However, they reconnected publicly in January 2023 when Swift joined The 1975 on stage to perform her hit song "Anti-Hero." Photographs of Healy and Swift holding hands in May further fueled speculation, but People Magazine reported their split in early June.

Fans of both Swift and Healy have been dissecting the lyrics of Swift's latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department," and theorizing that several songs may be inspired by their rumored fling. Songs such as "But Daddy I Love Him," which references a disapproved relationship, and "Fresh Out The Slammer," believed to be about a rebound after a breakup, have sparked particular interest.

As fans celebrate the exciting news of Matty Healy's engagement to Gabbriette Bechtel, they eagerly await any hints in The 1975's future music that may offer insights into this new chapter of his life.
