In a strategic move to make its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software more accessible, Tesla has significantly reduced the price of its FSD add-on. Following the recent halving of the subscription price for FSD, Tesla has now cut the one-time add-on price from $12,000 to $8,000 in the United States. In Canada, the outright cost of FSD has been adjusted to CAD $11,000.
Earlier this month, Tesla made headlines by dropping the monthly subscription cost of FSD (Supervised) to a more affordable $99, down from $199. This price cut paved the way for more Tesla owners to experience the advanced self-driving features.
Alongside lowering the FSD add-on price, Tesla has also made changes to its configurator. The option for Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) has been removed, indicating a shift in focus towards the more robust FSD. However, existing EAP subscribers have the opportunity to upgrade to FSD for an additional $2,000.
Tesla's decision to reduce the FSD prices is both timely and strategic. With the upcoming release of its robotaxi platform in August, the company is aiming to expand the accessibility of its autonomous driving capabilities. By making the software more affordable, Tesla is encouraging more customers to embrace its cutting-edge technology.
The substantial price cuts for both subscription and one-time purchase options are expected to attract a wider audience of Tesla enthusiasts. These reductions reflect Tesla's commitment to revolutionize the way we perceive and interact with autonomous vehicles.
As Tesla gears up to unveil its highly anticipated robotaxi platform, the company's foresight in adjusting FSD prices is a clear demonstration of its dedication to shaping the future of self-driving technology.
