Title: Tesla Responds to Reports on $25,000 Mass-Market Vehicle

In response to recent reports claiming the cancellation of Tesla's $25,000 electric vehicle (EV), CEO Elon Musk and Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen have both stepped forward to address the situation. Last week, Reuters released a report suggesting that Tesla had decided to scrap plans for the affordable EV. However, Musk promptly denied the claims and labeled the publication as "lying (again)."

In a video posted on X by user BLKMDL3, von Holzhausen, along with Ben from Unplugged Tesla and Russell from Michelin, participated in a panel discussion at the Petersen Auto Museum. During the session, a reporter inquired about the status of the $25,000 vehicle, whether it was canceled or merely delayed. While not offering a direct response, von Holzhausen advised viewers to "stay tuned" and cautioned against believing everything they read.

The Reuters report hinged on alleged messages from Tesla to suppliers and a supposed message from a Tesla manager specifically discussing the cancellation of the inexpensive EV. However, both Musk and von Holzhausen cast doubt on the reliability of these claims, urging the public to be skeptical of unverified information.

Interestingly, Tesla's recent announcement regarding the upcoming launch of a robotaxi on August 8, 2024, has fueled speculation that the robotaxi and the $25,000 EV may share the same platform. Musk seemed to endorse this theory by responding to it on X with the "eyes" emoji, hinting at the possibility.

The news of a potential cancellation comes at a time when Tesla is rolling out its highly anticipated Full Self-Driving v12 to customers. Initially touted by Musk and others as a crucial step towards achieving autonomous driving, this development adds further complexity to the ever-evolving puzzle of self-driving technology.

As shareholders and Tesla enthusiasts eagerly await further updates on the fate of the $25,000 mass-market vehicle, it seems that only time will reveal the true nature of these reports. In the meantime, Tesla remains focused on its innovative endeavors and is urging the public to exercise caution when consuming speculative information.
