**Tesla Announces Sixth Cybertruck Recall This Year Due to Drive Power Defect**
Tesla has initiated its sixth recall of the year for the Cybertruck, a distinctive electric truck known for its angular stainless-steel design. The recall involves over 2,400 of these vehicles, due to a defect that could result in the loss of drive power, posing an elevated risk of accidents. This information was disclosed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Wednesday.
Tesla has assured owners that the faulty component, identified as the drive inverter, will be replaced free of charge. The replacement process is expected to begin on or shortly after December 9, as outlined in a safety recall report released by the auto safety agency.
This recall follows several others earlier in the year that affected larger numbers of Cybertrucks. In October, a recall was issued for more than 27,100 vehicles due to a delay in the rearview camera image. June saw a recall of more than 11,600 Cybertrucks because of a potentially failing front windshield wiper. Additionally, a recall was issued in April for nearly 4,000 Cybertrucks to address an accelerator pedal that could become stuck. In February, certain newer models were included in a broader recall of approximately 2.2 million Teslas regarding a small font on warning light panels.
This series of recalls underscores the challenges Tesla faces in ensuring the reliability and safety of its innovative but complex vehicles.
