Taylor Swift Surprises Fans by Speaking Portuguese at Lisbon Concert

Pop superstar Taylor Swift delighted her Portuguese fans by speaking Portuguese during the opening night of her Eras tour in Lisbon, Portugal. The singer performed at Lisbons' Estádio da Luz stadium on May 24, marking her first-ever show in the country.

In a video shared by The Hollywood Reporter on X, Swift can be seen addressing the cheering audience in Portuguese. She began by saying "Muito obrigada," which translates to "thank you very much" in English, causing the stadium to erupt in even louder cheers. Swift expressed her gratitude by placing her hand on her heart before fanning herself and exclaiming, "Oh, Lisbon you... you're making me feel amazing right now!"

Throughout the concert, Swift continued to connect with the crowd by speaking Portuguese. In videos posted on social media, she can be heard asking for help from security while onstage. During her performance of "The Smallest Man in the World" from her latest album The Tortured Poets Department, Swift said, "Ayuda por favor," and pointed to the crowd. She also asked for help while playing the piano during her rendition of "Champagne Problems," saying, "Ajuda por favor."

Portuguese fans had been eagerly anticipating Swift's concert debut in the country. Originally scheduled to perform at the Alive festival in July 2020, the event was unfortunately canceled due to the ongoing pandemic. However, Swift made up for the delay by delivering an unforgettable performance in Lisbon.

Aside from her Portuguese interactions, Swift also made a fashion statement during the show. She was spotted wearing an updated version of her Roberto Cavalli two-piece outfit from her "1989" era. This time, she sported a sparkly purple bralet, a sparkly blue mini skirt, and blue and purple glittery boots. Throughout her European tour, Swift has showcased various new outfits, including a custom white Vivienne Westwood gown featuring lyrics from her latest album TTPD, an orange Versace bodysuit and blazer, and a yellow Alberto Ferretti dress.

Swift's concert was made even more special with the presence of her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, as well as friends Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper. The trio attended Swift's fourth show in Paris on May 12, showing their support for the talented singer.
