In a shocking turn of events, police sources have revealed that two squatters are suspected of being involved in the murder of a woman whose body was discovered in a duffle bag in her luxury New York City apartment. Nadia Vitels, 52, was found dead last week, having succumbed to blunt force head trauma, as revealed by the medical examiner's office.
According to law enforcement sources, the NYPD has successfully identified the two individuals believed to be responsible for Vitels' tragic death. It was revealed that Vitels had recently traveled from Spain to New York City in order to prepare the apartment for a family friend. The upscale residence had been unoccupied for several months following the passing of Vitels' mother.
Unbeknownst to Vitels, upon her arrival at the apartment, two squatters had been living there. Surveillance footage captured Vitels entering and leaving the premises. Authorities believe that shortly after her arrival, the suspects returned to the apartment, catching Vitels off guard, and proceeded to brutally beat her to death. Disturbingly, the suspects were recorded driving off in Vitels' Lexus shortly thereafter.
Tragically, Vitels' body remained undiscovered for several days until her son, along with the building's superintendent, embarked on a search for her after tracing her whereabouts through her cellphone. Their search led them to the apartment, where they discovered Vitels' lifeless body concealed in a duffle bag in a closet, with a foot visibly protruding.
Further investigation by the police revealed that a significant portion of Vitels' belongings had been disposed of in the apartment's trash chute. Additionally, authorities were able to trace Vitels' Lexus to Lower Paxton Township in Pennsylvania, where it had been involved in an accident. The vehicle was subsequently found abandoned. Surveillance footage then captured the suspects attempting to purchase a used car.
As of now, the two suspects involved in this horrific crime remain at large. The Joint Fugitive Task Force has been mobilized in a relentless search for these individuals, who are considered dangerous and are urgently sought after by law enforcement authorities.
The investigation into the murder of Nadia Vitels continues, and the authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the suspects to come forward and assist in bringing them to justice.
