A tragic incident unfolded at the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs, as two victims were found shot dead in a dorm room on Friday. The suspect, Nicholas Jordan, a 25-year-old student from Detroit, has been taken into custody on Monday on two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the double homicide.

The victims were identified as 26-year-old Celie Rain Montgomery of Pueblo, Colorado, and 24-year-old Samuel Knopp of Parker, Colorado. Knopp, described as an "uplifting" person and the "best musician on campus" by fellow student Gibson Marable, was a registered student at the university, while Montgomery was not currently registered.

Authorities stated that the shootings appeared to be an isolated incident between individuals who were known to each other, rather than a random attack against the school or other students. University Chancellor Jennifer Sobanet expressed shock and sorrow at the tragic loss of two lives, condemning the senseless violence that took place.

Jordan was located in a vehicle on Monday and taken into custody in Colorado Springs without incident. As the investigation continues, the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs community mourns the devastating loss of Montgomery and Knopp and seeks to come to terms with the impact of this tragic event.
