### Tropical Air Mass Brings Muggy Conditions and Showers

The weekend promises nicer weather on the horizon, though not before residents face a bit more rain. Friday saw muggy conditions dominating the area as a result of tropical moisture from Storm Helene, which made landfall in Florida last night. While the heaviest rainfall remains south, this has led to significant flooding in several regions. Luckily, Saturday is shaping up to provide a temporary respite before more showers return, courtesy of Helene, on Sunday.

For tonight, expect scattered showers and the occasional storm, especially to the south. Though hit-or-miss, some of these could briefly become quite heavy. The risk of rain persists throughout the night, primarily before midnight, possibly accompanied by some thunder. Temperatures overnight will settle between the upper 60s and lower 70s.

On Saturday, any remaining showers should clear out by sunrise, making way for a comparatively decent day. Plenty of sunshine is expected with highs ranging near 80 to the mid-80s, and a slight drop in humidity should make outdoor activities more pleasant. A chance of an evening shower exists but will likely hold off until after dark.

Sunday will see the remnants of Helene drifting slowly eastward, raising the chances of showers or a thunderstorm as the weekend wraps up. Though not a soaking rain, some stronger showers may pass in the afternoon or evening. Highs are projected to be in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

It's been a persistently rainy week, marking the seventh consecutive day of rainfall in the area. While it might not be ideal for everyone, it certainly sets the stage for a surge in mushroom growth!
