The Pittsburgh Steelers secured a 20-10 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in a game that saw Chargers' quarterback Justin Herbert exit due to an aggravation of an ankle injury. Herbert departed the match in the third quarter following a sack by Steelers' linebacker Elandon Roberts. Although the score was tied at 10-all when Herbert left, the Steelers capitalized on the situation, scoring a field goal and a touchdown in the first two drives of the fourth quarter, ultimately sealing their win and advancing their season to 3-0.

Roberts' hit on Herbert appeared to worsen a high ankle sprain that the Chargers' quarterback had sustained the previous week against the Carolina Panthers. Despite initially being listed as questionable leading up to Sunday's game, Herbert was active for the matchup but was forced to seek further examination in the medical tent after the injury incident. The Chargers later announced that Herbert was doubtful to return during the third-quarter break. Post-game reports revealed that Herbert was spotted wearing a walking boot. Prior to his exit, Herbert managed 125 passing yards and a touchdown completing 12 of 18 passes, with the score level at 10-10.

Following Herbert's departure, backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke took over but was unable to generate significant offensive momentum for the Chargers. Meanwhile, Steelers' quarterback Justin Fields put up an impressive performance with 245 passing yards and two touchdowns, one through the air and one rushing. After struggling to find the end zone in their previous two games, the Steelers' offense showed improvement in their win over the Chargers.
