In an effort to bolster their offensive backfield, the Pittsburgh Steelers have announced the signing of running back Jonathan Ward to their 90-man roster. The deal, which was finalized on Tuesday, is a one-year contract, with no other terms disclosed.

Ward earned his spot on the team after an impressive performance during the Steelers' rookie minicamp, where he tried out for the franchise. Previously, he had spent time playing for the Tennessee Titans, appearing in a total of seven games last season. During that time, he carried the ball three times for a total of 11 yards. However, his primary role was on special teams.

During the 2022 season, Ward split his playing time between the Tennessee Titans and the Arizona Cardinals. Prior to that, he spent his first two NFL seasons with the Cardinals, gaining experience that will undoubtedly benefit the Steelers as they head into the upcoming season.

With Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren already established as the team's top two returning running backs, Ward's addition brings depth and competition to the position. Furthermore, the Steelers recently signed free agent Cordarrelle Patterson, further strengthening their running back corps.

As the upcoming season approaches, the Steelers are positioning themselves for success with the addition of Jonathan Ward to their roster. Perhaps his versatility and experience will ultimately prove to be valuable assets for the team.

It remains to be seen how Ward will fit into the Steelers' offensive scheme, but fans are eager to see him in action during the preseason and beyond. With strong competition and the drive to perform at a high level, Ward will undoubtedly strive to make his mark on the team and contribute to their success in the upcoming NFL season.
