As rumors swirl about the future of college football conference alignments, speculation continues to mount regarding the potential exodus of certain Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) teams to the Big 12. Longtime college football radio host Greg Swaim has predicted that Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Miami, and either NC State or Georgia Tech could make a jump to the Big 12 if the ACC faces legal issues with Clemson and Florida State.

Addressing the frenzy surrounding potential conference realignment, Swaim stated, "Getting a lot of you asking me which six ACC teams the Big 12 is likely to poach. Obviously very early in the process, and we'll know who's leaving by August 15th for the ACC deadline, but here would be my educated guess as of today... Clemson, Florida State, Card Nation, Virginia Tech, Miami, and either NC State or Georgia Tech."

However, not everyone agrees with this assessment. Mike Farrell, renowned sports personality, countered Swaim's prediction and stated that the Big 12 lacks the financial resources to make such moves without upsetting its current members. Farrell emphasized that rumors of the conference helping to pay buyouts for Clemson and Florida State are baseless, as the Big 12 would need to delve into TV revenue, potentially alienating other teams in the conference. "Right now, Clemson and Florida State aren't going to the Big 12 - and they don't want to anyhow," Farrell claimed.

Arbitrary dates have become a theme in realignment rumors, with July 12th being a potential target date for school movement. However, this date has come and gone without any changes in conference affiliations. It remains uncertain when a decision may be made regarding the potential moves.

Swaim dropped hints suggesting that the current commissioner of the ACC, Yormark, may not want to deal with the potential difficulties that Florida State could bring. Every day brings new revelations and differing opinions regarding teams that may be invited to join the Big 12.

Amidst the ongoing speculation, one thing seems clear: the possibility of Florida State and Clemson eventually leaving the ACC remains the safest bet in the world of college sports. However, until concrete decisions are made, it is challenging to discern fact from fiction in the ever-evolving landscape of conference realignment.
