The Southland Conference has handed down suspensions to four players from Texas A&M-Commerce and four players from Incarnate Word following a violent altercation that occurred after A&M-Commerce's victory on Monday night. The incident took place during the postgame handshake line and led to a review by the league office, which determined that the players' actions were "flagrant unsportsmanlike."

The suspensions include three-game bans for A&M-Commerce's Jerome Brewer Jr., Ant Abraham, and Kwo Agwa, with Prince Davies receiving a one-game suspension. Incarnate Word's Elijah Davis was also suspended for three games, while Alex Anderson, Gabe Beny Til, and Marcus Glover were handed two-game suspensions.

Video footage captured the brawl, with players from both teams engaging in physical altercations that even involved fans. Despite efforts from players and coaches to stop the fight, it lasted nearly 90 seconds. Reports mentioned a manager with blood on their face and a young girl in the crowd getting injured during the chaos.

Following the incident, both teams issued an apology before the Southland Conference initiated an investigation. Monday's game had both teams tied in last place in the conference standings, with A&M-Commerce claiming a 76-72 overtime victory. A&M-Commerce is scheduled to face Nicholls State next, while Incarnate Word will be taking on McNeese State, the current league leaders.
