In a candid interview with British Vogue, Sophie Turner, best known for her role in Game of Thrones, recently discussed the challenging days following her split from musician Joe Jonas in September 2023. The actress took the opportunity to shed light on the impact of media reports that alleged she was a bad mother and enjoyed partying.

Turner revealed that the aftermath of the breakup was the "worst few days" of her life. She described being on set for another two weeks, unable to leave due to her contractual obligations for her upcoming series, Joan. Her children were in the United States, and she couldn't be with them during this difficult time. As hurtful articles started circulating, Turner found herself questioning her mothering abilities, facing deep-seated "mum guilt". However, she affirmed to herself that the allegations were false and that she was, indeed, a devoted and responsible mother who had never been a partier.

While legal constraints prevent Turner from discussing some aspects of her separation from Jonas, she did reveal that she learned about the split through the media when Jonas filed for divorce. Shortly thereafter, false stories emerged labeling her as a "wayward mother". Turner expressed dismay at the sheer audacity of people fabricating stories based on pictures, emphasizing that they did not tell her true story. She felt as though she were watching an unauthorized movie of her life, directed and produced by others, leaving her in a state of shock.

The actress struggled with thoughts of despair and considered giving up but found strength in a conversation with her lawyer. Realizing that she was fighting for her children's well-being, Turner resolved to persevere. "Once anyone says to me, 'Do it for your kids,' I'm doing it," she affirmed. She credited her children for providing her with the determination to endure the hardships she faced.

Throughout this challenging period, Turner found solace in her bond with singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. The two had met a decade ago and developed a friendship. In September, when Turner found herself without a place to stay in New York, she reached out to Swift for help. Instead of merely providing her with recommendations, Swift opened her own home, offering Turner and her children a safe and comfortable space.

Expressing her deep gratitude towards Swift, Turner described her as an "absolute hero" during this year. Swift's act of kindness, providing a home and a supportive environment for Turner and her children, left a lasting impression. Turner emphasized that Swift possesses a kind heart filled with compassion.

Turner and Jonas began dating in 2016 after he messaged her on social media, and mutual friends encouraged them to meet. The couple announced their engagement a year later and tied the knot in Las Vegas following the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. They welcomed their first daughter, Willa, in July 2020, and their second daughter, Delphine, in July 2022.

Sophie Turner's openness about her struggles following her split from Joe Jonas, combined with her appreciation for Taylor Swift's support, serves as an important reminder that even in difficult times, finding strength through friendship and focusing on the well-being of loved ones can help overcome adversity.
