ICARO Media Group
In a thrilling collaboration, Six Flags has announced its cinematic partners for Fright Fest, the highly anticipated Halloween celebration. Teaming up with renowned creatives behind iconic horror movies and TV shows, Six Flags promises to deliver a spine-chilling experience for park visitors.
Scheduled to open on September 7, Fright Fest will feature signature haunted mazes inspired by the likes of "Saw," "The Conjuring" series, "Stranger Things," "Trick 'r Treat," "Army of the Dead," "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," and the unsettling comic book series "DCeased." These partnerships aim to bring the scares and supernatural encounters to life, immersing guests in a world of terror.
Among the participating attractions, Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey and Six Flags Magic Mountain in Los Angeles will host the majority of the haunted mazes. The "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" themed maze will be exclusively available at Great Adventure, while Six Flags Mexico will feature the spine-tingling "DCeased" maze. Other Six Flags locations across the country will offer a mix of these hair-raising experiences.
In an interview with Variety, Edithann Ramey, Six Flags' "Chief Fright Officer" and company CMO, discussed the selection process for the cinematic franchises. Ramey remarked that they aimed to include recognized and popular film series, eventually expanding the list based on audience appeal. The collaboration between Six Flags and movie companies and distributors was well-received, as it provided an excellent opportunity to showcase their films in a unique way.
The process of finalizing designs and constructing the haunted mazes has been a year-long endeavor. Following the approval of the properties, the teams worked diligently with an agency called RWS in New York to ensure that the houses were representative of the films and fresh in their execution. The challenge lay in accommodating the studios' desire to protect their brands while delivering a truly immersive and terrifying experience.
Ramey acknowledged the specific feedback received from the studios and distributors, as they aimed to maintain consistency with the original properties. As the haunted houses are transformed from movies into real-life experiences, the attention to detail becomes paramount. From character authenticity to color schemes and narrative flow, the teams diligently address each aspect to meet the high expectations of visitors.
With fabrication currently underway, the haunting mazes are expected to be completed in the coming months. Despite the accelerated timeline inherent to the amusement park industry, Six Flags is committed to delivering a hair-raising experience that stays true to the essence of the films.
As Halloween approaches, Six Flags' Fright Fest promises a heart-pounding adventure for thrill-seekers, horror enthusiasts, and fans of these iconic cinematic franchises. From the twisted world of Jigsaw to the hair-raising cases of the Warrens, visitors will have the chance to immerse themselves in their favorite horror stories like never before. Brace yourselves for a frightful and unforgettable journey through the haunted mazes of Six Flags.
