In a surprising announcement, CBS reality competition host Jeff Probst revealed on his Instagram story that singer Sia will no longer be dispensing cash bonuses to her favorite "Survivor" players. This decision brings an end to one of the most distinctive eras in the history of the show.

The tradition of Sia's random and ultra-generous donations began eight years ago during the live reunion of "Survivor: Kaoh Rong." On stage, Sia joined third-place finisher Tai Trang and stunned everyone by announcing that she would give him $50,000, as well as an additional $50,000 to the charity of his choice. The motivation behind this unexpected act of generosity was Tai's commitment to protecting a chicken from being eaten – a cause that resonates with Sia, who is a vegan.

Probst fondly recalled the moment, stating, "Tai was shocked, the audience was shocked, I was shocked! What was happening? Sia was on stage in her wig handing out money to a 'Survivor' player!?" From that point on, Sia went on to give money to more than a dozen players or their chosen charities.

Notable recipients of Sia's generosity include Season 40 contestant Rick Devens, Elaine Stott, and Janet Carbin from "Survivor: Island of the Idols," Drea Wheeler and Carolyn Wiger from Season 42, Jesse Lopez from Season 43, and Katurah Topps from Season 45. Each of these individuals received $100,000 from the Grammy-nominated singer.

Probst expressed his gratitude and admiration for Sia, emphasizing the joy she brought to the players over the years. He further commented on the unique association between "Survivor" and Sia, stating, "So it is with tremendous gratitude and admiration to Sia that we bring to a close one of the most unique relationships a TV show could ever have with a pop star of Sia's global wattage. I'm really honored for 'Survivor' to have this one of a kind association with Sia. She's in the Survivor Hall Of Fame of Superfans!"

With the conclusion of cash bonuses from Sia, the "Survivor" community bids farewell to a truly exceptional era.
