Shelby American has revealed the latest generation of its Super Snake Mustang, joining in Ford's celebration of the Mustang's 60th anniversary. The car marks Shelby's first foray into the redesigned seventh-generation Ford Mustang and is set to impress with its incredible horsepower.

Shelby claims that the Super Snake Mustang will deliver over 830 horsepower, surpassing its predecessor's 825 horsepower output. This power is made possible by the available supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine. Buyers will have the option to choose between a coupe or convertible body style, as well as a naturally aspirated or a supercharged V-8 engine. The base 5.0-liter V-8 engine will offer a stock 480 horsepower, while the supercharged version will utilize a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger and other modifications to achieve the groundbreaking horsepower figure.

Both powertrain options can be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic transmission, with drive going solely to the rear wheels. The Super Snake Mustang's performance upgrades extend beyond its exceptional power, as it features a range of aerodynamic enhancements for improved downforce. These include a weight-saving aluminum hood with carbon-fiber vents, a wider front end with carbon-fiber fenders, a front splitter, side skirts, and a rear diffuser. Coupe versions will also come equipped with a custom rear wing.

In terms of handling, Shelby has incorporated its own suspension system to deliver sharper turn-in, complemented by 20-inch forged magnesium wheels. Braking power is provided by Shelby's own brakes, ensuring the Super Snake Mustang delivers an exhilarating driving experience.

Each Super Snake Mustang will be included in the official Shelby Registry and comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty. Additionally, the original Ford warranty for the powertrain remains intact. While the cars will be exclusively available in the U.S. market, Shelby hinted that partner performance shops may manufacture a few additional examples in other regions.

The history of the Super Snake Mustang dates back to 1967 when it was initially built as a high-speed demonstrator for tire testing. Powered by a lightweight 427-cubic-inch race engine from a Le Mans-winning Ford GT40, only one exemplar was created. Though a small production run was planned, it was subsequently canceled due to financial constraints. However, Shelby eventually brought the original 1967 model into production in the late 2000s, manufacturing just ten units using original Mustang chassis.

With the latest generation of the Super Snake Mustang, Shelby American continues to push the boundaries of performance and luxury, paying homage to the Mustang's storied legacy on its 60th anniversary. Car enthusiasts worldwide eagerly await the opportunity to experience the remarkable power and unmatched craftsmanship of the Super Snake Mustang.
