In response to the heavy rainfall earlier this week, areas across the region have been warned about a severe weather threat for Friday. The primary concerns highlighted by meteorologists include the possibility of hail, strong winds, and flash flooding.

A large area of rain and thunderstorms is projected to move across the viewing area on Thursday night, with the most intense precipitation expected between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. This forecast presents two distinct waves of heavy rain and storms that will impact the region until Friday afternoon.

The initial wave, spanning from 9 p.m. Thursday to 3-4 a.m. Friday, is likely to bring widespread heavy rainfall. Accumulations of 2-4 inches are anticipated south of I-20, intensifying the risk of flash flooding in these areas.

The second wave, taking place from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, will usher in scattered storms. While a gusty storm is possible, meteorologists do not expect widespread severe weather due to limited atmospheric instability. However, the southern half of the viewing area is predicted to experience the heaviest rainfall, with rainfall totals between 1-4 inches.

Finally, a third wave of significant weather is expected to occur from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday. Although the energy for this strong storm is anticipated to be concentrated more around the Pine Belt, coastline, and Louisiana regions, neighboring areas should remain vigilant.

Citizens are advised to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. Keep an eye out for changing weather conditions, particularly if you reside in low-lying areas prone to flash flooding.

As the day progresses, meteorologists and emergency management officials will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide further updates as necessary. Stay tuned to local news outlets and official weather channels for the latest information in order to stay safe amidst this looming severe weather threat.
