Eastern Colorado experienced severe thunderstorms on Tuesday, resulting in significant flooding and road closures in the town of Elizabeth. The Elizabeth Fire Department reported that Private Road 160 became impassable due to the floodwaters, affecting approximately a dozen homes along the road.
In addition to the road closures, strong winds caused damage as an outbuilding was knocked down near County Road 21. The Elbert County Road 21 was also impacted, necessitating its closure at Pronghorn Avenue due to fallen trees at County Road 146 and Antler Grove, as well as at County Road 154 and Pheasant Run. The road closure is expected to continue overnight Tuesday and potentially longer, depending on the rate at which the water recedes.
The severe weather conditions posed significant risks to Colorado's Front Range, particularly in the northeast region. Heavy rainfall, strong winds, and hail were anticipated, along with the possibility of an isolated tornado. The Pinpoint Weather team issued a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day, urging residents to stay vigilant for storm updates and forecast changes.
To ensure the safety and preparedness of the community, the Pinpoint Weather team will continue to monitor the weather conditions closely and provide regular updates multiple times each day. Residents are advised to remain cautious and informed as the storm system progresses.
