### Seahawks' DK Metcalf Suffers Grade 1 MCL Sprain, Status for Week 8 Uncertain

Seattle Seahawks' star wide receiver DK Metcalf has incurred a Grade 1 MCL sprain, announced coach Mike Macdonald on Monday. Initially reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter as being evaluated on a week-to-week basis, Metcalf's condition may not sideline him for long, with Macdonald suggesting the injury is "minor."

In a videoconference, Macdonald did not entirely dismiss the possibility of Metcalf playing in the Seahawks' Week 8 clash against the Buffalo Bills. "It doesn't look like it's a long-term injury," Macdonald elaborated. "DK will probably do everything humanly possible to be able to play."

Metcalf sustained the injury late in the third quarter of Sunday’s victory over the Atlanta Falcons as he attempted a sideline catch. Subsequent footage showed him wincing in pain as the Seahawks' physician examined his right knee. Despite the pain, Metcalf managed to rack up 99 yards from four receptions, including a 31-yard touchdown. For the season, he's accumulated 568 receiving yards, ranking him second in the NFL.

The Seahawks, who snapped a three-game losing streak with their win over Atlanta, have been grappling with multiple injuries. Macdonald shared updates on other key players, including cornerback Riq Woolen (ankle) who might return to practice Wednesday, though Tre Brown's (ankle) status remains uncertain. Woolen, a Pro Bowl selection in 2022, has missed two consecutive games.

The team's right tackle spot is equally troubled. There’s a chance George Fant could return to practice this week, though uncertainty remains. Additionally, Abe Lucas, recovering from offseason knee surgery, is still a few weeks away from being game-ready but might start practicing soon. Fant, who injured his knee in the opener and landed on the injured reserve in Week 3, was replaced by Stone Forsythe until Forsythe injured his hand in Week 6. This sequence thrust rookie Mike Jerrell into Sunday’s starting lineup.

Jerrell, Fant, and Forsythe are all contenders for starting against the Bills, while Lucas will need significant practice time before playing a game. “It’s looking good... with Abe,” Macdonald noted, “but even if he could start to practice, I think you're looking at a good chunk of practice time to get him ready to go play a game.”
