The San Francisco 49ers have reportedly engaged in discussions with other teams regarding the possibility of trading wide receivers Deebo Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk to acquire a higher selection in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. According to sources cited by Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the 49ers have been in talks with multiple teams, including one that possesses a top 10 pick.

Earlier reports from Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle indicated that the Niners have received inquiries specifically about Samuel. However, Silver also mentioned that San Francisco would only consider parting ways with the talented wideout if they were presented with an exceptional offer.

The uncertainty surrounding Aiyuk's future arises from the fact that he is currently in the final year of his rookie contract. Although the 49ers have exercised his fifth-year option for 2024, it seems that General Manager John Lynch may be exploring the possibility of trading the 2020 first-round pick if he has any reservations about extending his contract, considering the recent rise in the receiver market.

On the other hand, Samuel remains under contract with the 49ers until 2025, which provides more flexibility in terms of either retaining him or pursuing a trade. It appears that Lynch might view the 2024 draft as an opportunity to potentially find a younger and more cost-effective replacement for either Aiyuk or Samuel.

The upcoming draft is considered to be a rich pool of talent in the receiver position, with nine of the top 50 and 19 of the top 100 players on Bleacher Report's final big board classified as receivers. This abundance of talent could influence the 49ers' strategy in potentially moving up and securing a higher draft position to acquire a promising playmaker.

While it remains to be seen whether the 49ers will ultimately execute a trade involving either Samuel or Aiyuk, these discussions hint at the team's willingness to explore different avenues to strengthen their roster. With the 2024 NFL Draft on the horizon, San Francisco fans eagerly await to see how the team approaches the opportunity to secure new talent and potentially reshape their receiving corps.
