**Samsung Confirms Sound Quality Bug Linked to Dolby Atmos Update**
Samsung has officially acknowledged a bug affecting the sound quality on its devices, an issue brought to light by multiple user complaints. This confirmation comes after a tip from a Samsung user who noticed the problem, which has been causing frustration among Reddit and Samsung community forum members. Specifically, users report that Dolby Atmos performance has deteriorated significantly since the release of One UI 6.1.1.
Some users have even gone to the extent of disabling Dolby Atmos altogether due to its subpar performance. Notably, this problem is not confined to a single device; at least two Galaxy Tab S9 owners have reported similar issues, hinting at a more widespread occurrence.
Samsung revealed the root cause of the issue—a recent update to the Dolby Atmos Library, which was upgraded from version 3.10 to 3.12 with One UI 6.1.1. Although this update was intended to enhance the 360 Audio feature, it inadvertently altered sound quality in certain audio modes, leading to an inferior performance.
Samsung has communicated the issue to Dolby, which is currently working on a solution. Unfortunately, the timeline for the fix remains uncertain. The recent November security patch did not address the problem, leaving affected users hopeful that the December 2024 security update will bring the much-needed remedy.
In the meantime, Galaxy smartphone users who are experiencing similar issues will have to wait a little longer for a resolution.
