**Riyadh Air Opts for 60 Airbus A321neo Jets in Expansion Strategy**

Saudi Arabia’s new airline, Riyadh Air, unveiled a significant step in its expansion plans by announcing a firm order for 60 Airbus A321neo jets. This development follows the airline's earlier decision to bolster its fleet with 72 Boeing 787-9s, as disclosed in 2023. The narrow body aircraft order, originally shrouded in mystery, has now come to light with details shared during the Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Riyadh.

Riyadh Air aims to receive its first A321neo in the second half of 2026. The airline has selected the standard A321neo model, which is part of the Airbus A320 family known for its impressive range, passenger comfort, and fuel efficiency. This decision aligns with Riyadh Air's strategic goal of building one of the most fuel-efficient fleets in the industry, contributing to Saudi Arabia's decarbonization objectives.

Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, emphasized the economic and environmental benefits of this investment. He stated, "This investment will not only enable us to support economic growth in the aviation industry, it will ensure Riyadh Air operates one of the most fuel-efficient fleets. It'll be instrumental in helping Saudi Arabia achieve its decarbonization goals."

Riyadh Air's current aircraft orders include up to 72 Boeing 787-9s and now 60 Airbus A321neos, summing up to a total of 132 aircraft. The airline has set an ambitious target to operate approximately 200 jets within five years of launching its services, aiming to reach this milestone by 2030. This indicates that more orders will likely be placed in the near future to meet the target.

While details of how Riyadh Air intends to configure its A321neos have not been disclosed, the airline has promised a revolutionary passenger experience. Industry observers anticipate advanced cabin designs, potentially featuring high-comfort business class options comparable to those seen on other cutting-edge airlines.
