In a roster move announced on Tuesday, the Boston Red Sox made the decision to place right-hander Nick Pivetta on the 15-day injured list. Pivetta's injury was identified as a right elbow flexor strain, with the move being retroactive to April 6.

Pivetta had shown promise with two impressive starts in the early part of the season. His most recent outing, which took place on April 3 against the Oakland Athletics, saw him maintain a stellar performance. Pivetta boasted a remarkable 0.82 ERA over 11 innings across those two starts.

The loss of Pivetta leaves a hole in the Red Sox starting rotation, with left-hander Brayan Bello now taking the reins as the second starter in the rotation. Bello is set to showcase his skills in Boston's home opener at Fenway Park, scheduled for Tuesday at 2:10 p.m. ET.

To fill the void left by Pivetta's absence, the Red Sox have decided to recall left-handed reliever Brennan Bernardino from Triple-A Worcester. Bernardino will now join the team and provide much-needed support in the bullpen.

With Pivetta sidelined, the Red Sox will be relying on their remaining pitchers to step up and maintain their early-season success. The team will be hoping for a swift recovery for Pivetta, who has shown great potential in his limited appearances.

Fans can catch all the action as the Red Sox take on their opponents in the home opener live on NESN. Coverage will begin at 12:30 p.m. ET, with the first pitch scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET. It will certainly be an exciting spectacle as the Red Sox look to continue their strong start to the season despite this setback.
