### Lionel Messi Sets New Record as Inter Miami Defeats Columbus Crew
Lionel Messi continues to make history with Inter Miami CF, achieving yet another milestone during their recent match against Columbus Crew SC. The Argentine superstar scored two goals and provided an assist within the first 24 minutes, leading Inter Miami to a commanding early advantage.
The match on Saturday night saw Messi assisting Tadeo Allende in the 13th minute for the opening goal. Just two minutes later, Messi seized an opportunity when Crew's goalkeeper Nicholas Hagen mishandled a kick, allowing Messi to score. The Argentine added his second goal in the 24th minute, chipping Hagen during a breakaway. This impressive performance brought Messi's season tally to 10 goals and four assists in just 13 games, pushing Miami ahead 3-0.
With these two goals, Messi became Inter Miami's all-time leading scorer in MLS regular-season play. His 30th and 31st goals surpassed the previous record of 29 goals, set by his fellow Argentine, Gonzalo Higuaín. What makes Messi's feat particularly remarkable is that he achieved this record in just 38 appearances, whereas Higuaín set the former benchmark over 67 games.
Messi's latest achievements come as part of an extraordinary week of performances. After two scoreless games, he has racked up five goals and two assists in three matches. Additionally, Messi notched his 50th regular-season goal contribution during a midweek victory against CF Montréal, where he also scored twice.
This match against Columbus was Miami's final fixture before heading to the FIFA Club World Cup. They will face Egypt's Al-Ahly on June 14 at Hard Rock Stadium and later play against Portugal's FC Porto and Brazil's Palmeiras to conclude the group stage. Inter Miami will resume their MLS campaign against Atlanta United on June 28.
Messi's continued excellence promises to keep fans on the edge of their seats as Inter Miami aims for further success in both domestic and international competitions.
