"After much reflection, I have made the difficult choice to proceed with a divorce," Mellencamp shared on Instagram. She emphasized that her main concern is the well-being and privacy of her three children, Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 4, throughout this transition.

In January, she had been declared melanoma-free by her oncologist, but her struggle persists.

Adding to her emotional strain, Mellencamp recently discussed the mental toll of her cancer battle in an exclusive interview, revealing the profound impact it has had on her. Just over a week before announcing her divorce, Arroyave had accompanied her to attend the 2024 Cure Melanoma Gala in New York City.
