**Ray Lewis Eyed for Florida Atlantic University Head Coach Role**

Ray Lewis, the legendary linebacker, may soon step onto the football field in a new capacity as a head coach. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Lewis has emerged as a potential candidate for the head coaching position at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). This development comes after the university dismissed its head coach, Tom Herman, earlier this week.

The concept of hiring Lewis follows a similar path taken by Deion Sanders, who transitioned from his illustrious NFL career to become the head coach at the University of Colorado. Like Sanders, Lewis brings an untarnished legacy as a player, which could serve as a major draw for prospective athletes.

FAU, located less than 200 miles from Bartow, Florida – Lewis' hometown – and not far from Miami where he played college football, presents a convenient opportunity for him. Currently in its second year in the American Athletic Conference, the team has struggled recently, with a 2-8 record this season following a 4-8 season last year.

Notably, Willie Taggart, now the Running Backs Coach for the Baltimore Ravens, was FAU's head coach from 2020 to 2022. Despite the buzz around Lewis' potential candidacy, reports from CBS Sports and 247Sports indicate that there has been no direct communication between Lewis and the university. Sources involved in the coaching search have bluntly stated that it is "not happening," casting doubt on the likelihood of this high-profile appointment.

While the idea of Ray Lewis taking over the head coach role at FAU stirs excitement, the current sentiment from insiders suggests a slim chance of this becoming a reality.
