The highly anticipated FireKeepers Casino 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway faced a delay as rain poured down on Sunday. With just three regular-season races remaining in 2024, the outcome of this race is crucial for drivers jockeying for playoff spots.

Last week's race results continue to dominate headlines, with Austin Dillon's impending appeal hearing drawing attention. If NASCAR's penalty of revoking Dillon's automatic playoff berth for his win at Richmond is overturned, it could significantly impact the playoff picture.

Currently, four drivers are fighting for three wild card spots in the Cup playoffs. Ty Gibbs, Bubba Wallace, Ross Chastain, and Chris Buescher are vying for their chance to secure a coveted playoff berth.

Unfortunately, the rain showers at Michigan International Speedway forced the drivers to exit their cars. The track now requires drying before the race can commence, resulting in a delayed start. The field retreated to pit road, with the cars being covered until the weather conditions improve.

While weather systems move in from the north, the 36 cars participating in the race are using this time to complete pace laps. As anticipation builds for the start of the race, the length of the delay remains uncertain.

Denny Hamlin, who was already positioned at the pole, is eager to make his mark in the race. Qualifying had been cancelled on Saturday, making Hamlin's pole position more valuable. The full starting lineup can be found on NASCAR's official platform.

Motor Racing Network (MRN) will provide radio coverage of the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway. With affiliates across the country, fans can also stream the race on NASCAR.com and the NASCAR app. Additionally, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio on channel 90 will broadcast the race.

For national broadcast coverage, the FireKeepers Casino 400 will be aired on USA Network. Streaming options for the race include the NBC Sports app and FUBO, which offers a free trial for potential subscribers.

As fans and drivers eagerly await the start of the FireKeepers Casino 400, they hope for improved weather conditions to kick-start the much-anticipated race at Michigan International Speedway.
