**Raiders Make Major Staff Changes Amid Disappointing Season**

Antonio Pierce has made significant decisions following a challenging start to his first full season as head coach of the Raiders, with the team currently standing at a dismal 2-7 record. Amidst a troubling five-game losing streak, the organization has decided to part ways with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy following their 41-24 defeat against the Bengals.

This move marks the fourth time in the last five seasons that the Raiders have made an in-season change at either the coordinator or head coach position. Getsy, who previously presided over highly successful rushing offenses with the Bears, struggled this year, resulting in one of the league’s poorest rushing outputs and a scoring rank of 26th out of 32 NFL teams, averaging just 18 points per game.

One critical factor that led to the Raiders missing out on potentially impactful hires like Kliff Kingsbury and Chip Kelly was their insistence on a two-year contract for their offensive coordinator position, as opposed to a more enticing three-year deal. Kingsbury has since thrived with the Commanders, showcasing a dynamic offense, while Kelly has been successful calling plays for Ryan Day at Ohio State.

In addition to firing Getsy, Pierce has decided to reshape other parts of his coaching staff by releasing offensive line coach James Cregg and quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello, both of whom were in their first season with the team. Including his time as interim head coach last season, where he impressed with a 5-4 record, Pierce now holds a 7-11 overall record with the Raiders.

Pierce's prior experience includes a successful tenure at California prep powerhouse Long Beach Poly. The Raiders' recent struggles highlight the significant challenges he faces in turning around the franchise's fortunes.
