### Davante Adams Requests Trade as Contenders Circle, Steelers Show Interest
Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has formally requested a trade, sparking interest from several NFL teams. Among the suitors, the Pittsburgh Steelers have expressed "preliminary interest," according to sports journalist Josina Anderson. The Athletic reports that both the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets have contacted the Raiders to discuss a potential deal. However, subsequent reports clarified that the Cowboys are not pursuing Adams, given their typical reluctance to invest heavily in skill-position players.
Adams has identified the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints as preferred destinations, as per ESPN. Both teams feature quarterbacks who share a history with Adams: Aaron Rodgers of the Jets, who played with him at the Green Bay Packers, and Derek Carr of the Saints, his former teammate at Fresno State and with the Raiders.
The Steelers were previously interested in San Francisco 49ers' wideout Brandon Aiyuk before he secured a long-term extension prior to the 2024 season. Pittsburgh's pursuit of Aiyuk suggests their keen interest in strengthening their receiving corps. Meanwhile, the Cowboys, currently at a 2-2 record, seek to bolster their offensive lineup, particularly in pairing another elite receiver alongside CeeDee Lamb.
According to The Athletic, multiple teams are keeping tabs on Adams' situation, though the Raiders are not in a hurry to finalize a deal unless their asking price—at least a second-round draft pick plus additional draft assets—is met. ESPN adds that Las Vegas had initially acquired Adams in 2022 in exchange for a first- and second-round pick.
The 31-year-old Adams had previously dismissed rumors about his dissatisfaction in Las Vegas. However, recent events, including sitting out a Week 4 game due to a hamstring injury and making cryptic comments about his rapport with coach Antonio Pierce on the "Up & Adams" show, have fueled speculation regarding his plans.
As the trade deadline nears, the attention on Adams' future continues to mount, with teams eager to negotiate terms that could see the Pro Bowl wide receiver don a new jersey for the remainder of the season.
