HENDERSON, Nev. - The Raiders have announced a reshuffling of their coaching staff, appointing Scott Turner as Interim Offensive Coordinator and Joe Philbin as Interim Offensive Line Coach. Moreover, football veteran Norv Turner has been added to the team as a Senior Advisor.
Scott Turner steps into the role of Interim Offensive Coordinator, having joined the Raiders in 2023 as the Pass Game Coordinator. Turner brings substantial experience to the position, having served as the offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders for three years. His NFL journey also includes roles with the Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns, and Minnesota Vikings. During his college days, Turner played as a quarterback at UNLV before transitioning into coaching.
Joe Philbin, who was brought on as a Senior Offensive Assistant earlier this season, now takes the helm as Interim Offensive Line Coach. Philbin boasts nearly 40 years of coaching experience. Notably, he was the Head Coach of the Miami Dolphins from 2012 to 2015. In his extensive career, Philbin has consistently worked with the offensive line, most recently with the Dallas Cowboys for three seasons. The Springfield, Massachusetts native has a history with the Green Bay Packers, where he served as offensive coordinator and later as Interim Head Coach.
Adding further depth to the coaching staff, Norv Turner returns to the Raiders as a Senior Advisor. Turner previously served as Head Coach of the Raiders from 2004 to 2005. Renowned as one of the most respected minds in football, his coaching career began in 1975. Turner has held head coaching positions for 15 years in the NFL, including tenures with the Washington team and the San Diego Chargers. Additionally, his role as an offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys in the early 1990s was instrumental in the team securing two Super Bowl titles. In more recent years, Turner has been involved with the Cleveland Browns, Minnesota Vikings, and Carolina Panthers.
These strategic additions and adjustments to the Raiders’ coaching lineup reflect the team's commitment to leveraging experienced leadership and expertise as they navigate the current season.
