Qualcomm's latest chipset for notebooks, the Snapdragon X Elite, is making waves in the gaming community. After previous reports of its ability to run Baldur's Gate 3 at a solid 30FPS on low settings, new information reveals that it can also handle the 2019 action-adventure game Control at just under 40FPS, albeit still on low settings.

Control, developed by Remedy, is known for its demanding graphics requirements, often pushing high-end GPUs to their limits. With the Snapdragon X Elite's integrated GPU, it is quite an achievement to see it handle the game at acceptable frame rates. The chipset's capability to run Control, even in combat scenarios with explosions and physics effects, showcases its potential.

Tom's Hardware recently performed a hands-on performance test of the Snapdragon X Elite, focusing on the gaming aspect. While there were multiple tests conducted, the gaming performance was particularly notable. In comparison to Apple's M3 series, which also supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing, Qualcomm has managed to shine with the Snapdragon X Elite.

It is worth mentioning that Control can be a taxing game even for dedicated mid-tier graphics processors, and even a desktop RTX 2080 Ti struggles to keep up at maximum settings. Unfortunately, the information does not specify if an upscaler was used during testing or how the Snapdragon X Elite performed in combat-intensive situations.

However, the first wave of Snapdragon X Elite-powered notebooks is expected to be released later this year. This will provide users with the opportunity to experience the true capabilities of this SoC firsthand. As the launch approaches, more benchmarks and detailed reviews will provide a better understanding of the Snapdragon X Elite's performance.

If you are interested in exploring more benchmarks conducted on Qualcomm's powerful chipset for notebooks, Tom's Hardware offers an in-depth article on the topic. Stay tuned for more updates on the Snapdragon X Elite and its gaming prowess.
