Princess Anne, the sister of King Charles III, is reportedly recovering well after suffering from memory loss due to an accident believed to involve a horse. The 73-year-old's memory loss is said to be temporary, as reported by The Telegraph.

Buckingham Palace has been reached out to for comment on the matter by Fox News Digital, but no response has been received yet. However, the Princess Royal's husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, provided a brief update on Tuesday, expressing gratitude towards the medical team and hospital support staff for their expert care.

According to People magazine, Laurence stated, "She is recovering well, thank you. We are both profoundly grateful to the medical team and hospital support staff for their expert care - and to the emergency services who were all so wonderful at the scene." Laurence also mentioned being touched by the kind messages received from people near and far.

In a video shared by ITV's Chris Ship, Princess Anne can be seen telling reporters that she is fine but progressing slowly. Buckingham Palace previously announced that the Princess Royal was admitted to the hospital as a precautionary measure and is expected to make a full recovery.

The incident occurred on Sunday while Princess Anne was walking at her Gatcombe Park estate in southwestern England. The cause of her injuries remains unclear, but doctors have determined that they are consistent with an impact from a horse's head or legs.

"The king has been kept closely informed and joins the whole royal family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to the princess for a speedy recovery," stated the palace in a press release. The accident marks the latest health scare to affect the House of Windsor, adding to the recent treatments undergone by King Charles III and Kate Middleton.

As a result of her injuries, Princess Anne had to cancel her appearance at a state dinner in honor of the emperor of Japan and a planned trip to Canada. Known for her businesslike approach to public appearances, Princess Anne conducted 457 royal engagements last year, surpassing the king, William, and Kate in terms of numbers, according to Daily Telegraph statistics.

Christopher Andersen, author of "The King," remarked that the royal family members' involvement in equestrian activities often exposes them to injuries. Andersen previously shared with Fox News Digital, "Princess Anne... has probably sustained more injuries than any other member of the royal family, with the possible exception of King Charles."

It is anticipated that Princess Anne will be able to return home later this week. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
