Princess Anne Discharged from Hospital After Horse-Related Head Injury

Princess Anne, the younger sister of King Charles III, has been released from the hospital after a five-night stay following a minor head injury believed to have been caused by a horse. Buckingham Palace confirmed that the 73-year-old princess, who is the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II, has returned to her residence at Gatcombe Park in southwest England and will recuperate there until her medical team permits her to resume public duties.

Expressing gratitude towards the medical staff, Anne's husband, Tim Laurence, thanked the team at Southmead Hospital for their care, expertise, and kindness during his wife's short stay. The incident occurred on Sunday while Princess Anne was out walking on the grounds of her estate. Horses were present in the vicinity, and her medical team concluded that her head injuries were consistent with an impact from a horse's head or legs.

As a former Olympic equestrian, Princess Anne is no stranger to horse-related activities. However, due to the concussion she sustained, she does not remember the specifics of the event. Despite initially expecting a full recovery, the injury has led to the postponement of Anne's upcoming engagements. Furthermore, she was unable to travel to Canada as planned this week.

The palace mentioned that Princess Anne will follow her medical team's guidance and resume her public duties as soon as she is given the green light. Therefore, her return to the royal engagements will be contingent upon her recovery.
