In a thrilling turn of events at the Critérium du Dauphiné, Primož Roglič of Bora-Hansgrohe emerged victorious on stage 6, showcasing his exceptional climbing skills and overtaking the overnight race leader, Remco Evenepoel of Soudal Quick-Step.

Roglič, accompanied by his Bora-Hansgrohe teammate Aleksandr Vlasov, was the first to reach the summit finish at Le Collet d'Allevard, leaving behind top contenders including Giulio Ciccone of Lidl-Trek. Evenepoel put up a fight after losing contact with his rivals but finished in eighth place on the stage, resulting in a 42-second deficit to Roglič. With bonus seconds added, Roglič now holds a 19-second lead in the general classification standings with only two stages remaining in the race.

The Bora-Hansgrohe team played a crucial role in the final climb, with Vlasov setting a relentless pace that proved too challenging for most riders. Evenepoel received support from teammate Mikel Landa, but once Roglič's group caught up with them inside the last 2km, Evenepoel struggled to keep up. Roglič made a decisive move in the final 150m, securing a landmark win ahead of the upcoming Tour de France.

While Ciccone managed to hold on and finish second on the stage, several other contenders for the general classification, including Sepp Kuss of Visma-Lease a Bike, Tao Geoghegan Hart of Lidl-Trek, and David Gaudu of Groupama-FDJ, suffered significant time losses.

This victory marks Roglič's first road stage win of the season and signifies his growing form leading up to the Tour de France. Despite facing limitations due to his left shoulder, Roglič expressed satisfaction with his performance and praised his team's commitment throughout the race.

For Evenepoel, this setback serves as a realization of the challenges he will face in the Tour de France. While he remains in contention for the general classification at the Dauphiné, it is Roglič who appears stronger heading into the remaining mountain stages.

The stage 6 of the Dauphiné began under better weather conditions after stage 5's neutralization. A breakaway group, consisting of Romain Grégoire, Magnus Cort, Thibault Guernalec, Mason Hollyman, Arjen Livyns, and Alessandro Fancellu, formed early in the stage. The break established a substantial lead, but as the road started to incline, their advantage diminished.

During the descent, Guernalec and Hollyman both crashed, with Hollyman unable to regain contact with the front group. As the race progressed, the leading group took a wrong turn, losing valuable time as they had to turn around. By the time they reached the slopes of Le Collet d'Allevard, their lead had decreased to 1 minute and 50 seconds.

Ineos took charge on the climb, aiming to isolate Evenepoel and create a challenging race environment. Their efforts paid off as several GC contenders struggled on the lower slopes, with Geoghegan Hart and Kuss losing ground. Though Grégoire persisted at the front, Vlasov and De Plus bridged the gap. Ciccone and Roglič soon joined them, with Roglič ultimately outpacing Ciccone in the final stretch to secure the stage win.

With two more mountain stages remaining, the Critérium du Dauphiné promises further excitement and fierce competition as Roglič looks to defend his yellow jersey. The stage 6 victory serves as a testament to his remarkable form and sets the stage for an intriguing Tour de France just three weeks away.
