The President has convened a meeting with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to address the ongoing funding issues.

The current funding for government agencies and departments is set to expire on March 1, with the remaining funding expiring on March 8. Both Johnson and Schumer were expected to announce a deal on Sunday to fund the government, but no compromise was reached, leading to public statements blaming each other for the delays.

One of the main issues causing delays in the negotiations is a supplemental nutrition benefits program for low-income women, infants, and children known as WIC. Senate Democrats are pushing for $7 billion for the program, while House Republicans proposed $6 billion and Biden requested $6.3 billion.

Senate Democratic Leader Schumer has placed the blame for the potential shutdown on House Republicans, accusing them of causing chaos and hindering legislation. If no deal is reached by March 1, the government faces a partial shutdown.

The White House, as well as the offices of Schumer, McConnell, and Jeffries, have not yet responded to requests for comments. Elizabeth Elkind, a politics reporter for Fox News Digital, is leading coverage of the House of Representatives and providing updates on the situation.
