In a move that has sparked controversy and criticism, President Joe Biden came under fire for proclaiming Easter Sunday, the most significant Christian holiday, as 'Transgender Day of Visibility.' The announcement drew immediate backlash from prominent Christians, politicians, and social media users who expressed their disappointment and accused the administration of undermining religious traditions.

The White House released a statement on March 31, stating, "On Transgender Day of Visibility, we honor the extraordinary courage and contributions of transgender Americans and reaffirm our Nation's commitment to forming a more perfect Union - where all people are created equal and treated equally throughout their lives." While March 31 has long been recognized as a day to celebrate the transgender movement, it coincided with Easter Sunday this year, a day observed by Christians worldwide to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Critics were quick to condemn President Biden's decision, questioning the timing of the proclamation. Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy took to social media to express his skepticism, asking, "Joe Biden just proclaimed that 'Transgender Visibility Day' is on Sunday, March 31st. I wonder how he came up with that date." Rep. Alex Mooney from West Virginia echoed these sentiments, labeling it a "coincidence on the timing" and accusing the administration of launching a direct assault on Christianity.

Additional Republican lawmakers, such as Rep. Diana Harshbarger from Tennessee, joined the chorus of disapproval, asserting that the announcement was intentional and demonstrated a clear disregard for Christianity. Critics argued that this decision was not only disrespectful to Christians but also showcased a larger pattern of the Biden administration attempting to undermine religion and traditional values.

Conservative commentator Benny Johnson shared a screenshot of the White House statement, expressing his disappointment and stating, "What a slap in the face to all Christians in America." This latest controversy comes amid ongoing scrutiny of President Biden's stance on LGBTQ+ and abortion issues, particularly considering his self-identification as a devout Catholic who regularly attends church.

A recent poll conducted by Pew Research found that only 13% of Americans view President Biden as "very religious," while 41% consider him "somewhat religious," and 44% believe he is "not at all" or "not too religious."

As the debates and discussions surrounding the clash between religious traditions and LGBTQ+ rights continue, this proclamation has further ignited the discussion about the erosion of religious values in American society. It remains to be seen how the Biden administration will address the backlash and restore confidence among religious communities.
