President Joe Biden expressed his disappointment with House Republicans on Monday, describing their actions as "shocking" for "walking away from the threat of Russia" by not approving aid for Ukraine. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Biden highlighted his frustration with the reluctance of House Republicans to provide assistance to Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict with Moscow.

Biden's remarks came following the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. The President urged House Republicans to step up and pass the aid package for Ukraine instead of going on an extended recess, which he referred to as a "two-week vacation." When asked about the impact of Navalny's death on Republicans' stance on the aid package, Biden expressed uncertainty, stating, "I hope so, but I'm not sure."

Last week, the Senate passed a $95 billion bipartisan aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. House Speaker Mike Johnson has resisted taking up the aid measure, which would provide billions in aid to Ukraine amidst the conflict with Moscow. Biden indicated his willingness to meet with Johnson to discuss the matter further.

The President emphasized the importance of fulfilling obligations and supporting Ukraine in its struggle, calling on House Republicans to prioritize national security interests and strengthen international alliances such as NATO. Biden's appeal for bipartisan support underscores the urgency of the situation and the need for swift action in providing aid to Ukraine.
