In a bid to promote the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris traveled to North Carolina on Tuesday. The duo visited Raleigh, the state's capital, as they aimed to turn the tide in a state that narrowly went in favor of former President Donald Trump in the previous election.

The timing of the visit coincided with the 14th anniversary of the signing of the Affordable Care Act, but President Biden used the occasion to criticize Trump and Republicans for their stance on abortion and health care coverage. Biden highlighted the numerous unsuccessful attempts made by Trump and the Republican Congress to repeal the law commonly known as ObamaCare.

During his address, President Biden specifically mentioned a budget proposal by the Republican Study Committee, which called for cuts to the Affordable Care Act and entitlement programs. He accused his predecessor and "MAGA officials" of targeting seniors, people with disabilities, and women, referring to Trump's comments taking credit for the end of Roe v. Wade and his previous suggestion of imposing punishment on women who undergo abortions.

"While there are those that want to take us back in time, all of us together are determined to move us forward," President Biden declared. He expressed his vision of a future where democracy is defended and health care is a right, emphasizing the importance of restoring the freedom to choose.

The visit to North Carolina holds significance, as the state is expected to be a crucial battleground in the upcoming November elections. Both the presidential race and a gubernatorial contest are at the top of the ticket. A recent Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll revealed that President Biden has closed the gap between himself and Trump in North Carolina, reducing the former president's lead from 9 percentage points to 6 percentage points.

As President Biden and Vice President Harris concluded their visit to North Carolina, they left a message calling for unity and progress. Their emphasis on defending the Affordable Care Act and criticizing Republican initiatives resonated with the audience, setting the stage for an intense electoral battle in the months to come.
