### Port Authority Police Save 2-Year-Old from Luggage Conveyor Belt at Newark Airport
In an act of swift heroism, Port Authority police officers successfully rescued a 2-year-old child who managed to climb onto a luggage conveyor belt at Newark Liberty International Airport last week. The incident, which occurred at 6:28 p.m. on Wednesday at Terminal A, could have led to serious danger had it not been addressed swiftly.
The mother of the child was attending to matters at the JetBlue ticketing counter when the child wandered away and accessed the conveyor belt. Suddenly faced with a potentially perilous situation, the alert officers quickly sprang into action. The young child was found unharmed in the checked baggage room on the lower level, just before the conveyor belt reached an X-ray machine.
The quick-thinking officers, later identified by NYDailyNews.com as Angel Paulino and Joe DeSilvio, were lauded for their prompt response. The Port Authority Policeman’s Benevolent Association praised the officers on social media, noting how they didn't hesitate to enter the conveyor system and locate the child within about four minutes.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called as a safety measure, but the child's parents declined further medical treatment since the child was not injured in the incident.
