In a recent announcement, Hatch, a well-known sleep aid device company, has initiated a voluntary recall of over 900,000 Rest 1st Generation sound machine adapters. The recall comes as a result of a potential electric shock hazard associated with the adapters.

The recall, conducted in partnership with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), pertains to power adapters that were issued with certain Hatch Rest 1st generation devices sold primarily between 2019 and 2022. The specific concern centers around power adapters produced by Jiangsu Chenyang Electron Co., as the white housing of these adapters can detach when removed from the power outlet, exposing the power prongs and posing a risk of electric shock to consumers.

Hatch, demonstrating its commitment to consumer safety, voluntarily issued the recall. According to the CPSC, approximately 919,400 products have been affected. The power adapters in question have a white rectangular plastic housing and bear the model number CYAP05 050100U. Near the prongs, the model number, amps, manufacturer name (Jiangsu Chenyang Electron Co. LTD), and "Made in China" are printed in black on the power adapter. It is important to note that the power adapter was not sold separately.

Hatch has confirmed receiving 19 reports of the plastic housing surrounding the AC power adapter coming off, including two incidents where consumers experienced a minor electric shock. As a result, the company is taking swift action to rectify the situation and ensure consumer safety.

The Rest 1st Generation sound machine adapters were sold both online through the Hatch website and Amazon, as well as in physical stores such as BuyBuyBaby, Target, Walmart, Nordstrom, Pottery Barn Kids, and BestBuy nationwide, from January 2019 until September 2022.

Consumers who possess the recalled power adapters are advised to cease using them immediately and to contact Hatch for a free replacement power adapter. The CPSC has provided specific instructions for consumers, including unplugging the cord, cutting it on the recalled power adapter, taking a photo of the adapter showing both the model number and the cut cord, and uploading the photo along with their name and mailing address on the dedicated website www.hatch.co/adapterrecall. Furthermore, Hatch is directly reaching out to all registered owners of the affected products.

By swiftly addressing this issue, Hatch aims to prioritize the safety of its consumers and prevent any potential incidents related to the faulty power adapters.
