### Steelers Eyeing Jonnu Smith Trade Following Injury to Donald Parham Jr.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been handed a significant setback with the news that tight end Donald Parham Jr. has suffered a torn ACL during an OTA session on Tuesday. This injury could heighten the team's urgency to pursue a trade for Miami Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith, according to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.

Parham, who joined the Steelers earlier this year, initially started his professional career as an undrafted free agent out of Stetson in 2019. He spent time in the offseasons with both Detroit and Washington before making an impression in the XFL in 2020, which subsequently led to an opportunity with the Los Angeles Chargers. Over his four-year tenure in L.A., Parham recorded 67 receptions, amassing 764 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns. Most recently, he was part of the Denver Broncos' practice squad throughout the 2024 season before signing with Pittsburgh.

With Parham out for the entire 2025 season, the Steelers' depth at the tight end position has taken a considerable hit. Currently, the team has Pat Freiermuth, Darnell Washington, and J.J. Galbreath listed as their other tight ends. This situation could prompt the Steelers to expedite trade talks with the Dolphins to secure Jonnu Smith to bolster their roster.
